Tailored Community workshops

Members of the Aboriginal Heritage Unit conduct regular workshops for people who either plan to set up or have already established a local cultural centre or keeping place within their community.

The format of each workshop is tailored to the needs of a particular community. However, they generally include aspects of museum management practices, such as conservation techniques, collection management, display design and production.

Additionally, the Unit has expanded the focus of workshops to incorporate management training, business strategy development, venue management, sponsorship, public relations and marketing - based on a needs analysis conducted during previous community workshops.
