What is biodiversity?

Rocky reefs

Rocky reefs are one of the most common underwater ecosystems off the coast of southern Australia.

These reefs are extremely important near-shore habitats which sustain a huge variety of plants, such as kelp and other algae, as well as animals, such as sponges, sea urchins, limpets, sea squirts, lace corals, lobsters, abalone and fishes. As well as all the things you can see, there are also many species of tiny animals that you might not see, partly because they're small, but also because they're hiding.
