Anthropology

Anthropology has four main branches:

archaeology, which focuses on past human cultures;
cultural anthropology, which examines social customs and behaviours of living groups;
physical anthropology, which explores humans origins, genetics and biological development; and
linguistics, the study of human languages.

The Pacific collections and research at the Australian Museum focus on material culture, ethnography, history and archaeology of the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific region.
