Big Belly Seahorse
Hippocampus abdominalis Lesson, 1827
The Big Belly Seahorse is the largest of the Australian seahorses. It is most often observed in its yellow colouration (left). The image on the right shows the same species with a markedly different colour pattern.
The diver who took the photograph observed these two individuals mating. All the images on this page were taken at the Docks, Jervis Bay, NSW, Australia.
