Fishes - Australian Museum Fish Site

The Fish Department - Fieldwork

Coxs River, 1995 - 1998

This image shows the use of a Japanese seine to catch small fishes. Note the guard net in the background. A guard net is laid at both the upstream and downstream extremities of the site. This prevents any fishes from swimming out of the collecting area, and also marks out the site to define where collecting should be done.
