Fishes - Australian Museum Fish Site

The Fish Department - Fieldwork

Blackened creek
A bushfire blackened tributary of the Clarence River. View larger image.

A long drive down a dirt road was abruptly terminated by a burned out bridge.

We decided the blackened water would be an interesting place to sample for fishes.

The team was amazed by the number of fishes present in the isolated pools of this stream. See the next slide for an example.
