Everybody on the trip was very careful to treat any scratches and cuts. We were diving every day and in these conditions even a small cut can become dangerously infected very quickly. Jerry Finan was unfortunate to suffer badly from a tropical infection. The image shows Jerry at the airport in Lata with a handkerchief tied around his infected leg. Despite the heat of the day he was chilled and was wearing a jacket for warmth. Fortunately, after a course of medication he recovered.
