Sascha completed an engineering degree in 2002 and shortly afterwards began a Marine Biology degree at the University of Wollongong.

His current research interests include the rockpool fishes of the Illawarra region of New South Wales, fish species diversity and ecology, and the biology of the Bastard Trumpeter.

Sascha was employed to return many specimens of fishes that were borrowed from collections worldwide and used in the research programs of Australian Museum ichthyologists.

To perform this work, Sascha had to become proficient with the use of EMu database software.

Sascha's full-time employment in the Fish Department extended from 24 April 2007 until 30 June 2007.

Sascha has also worked with the Fish Department on a voluntary basis and continues to provide images and information for the Australian Museum website.
