The Two-line Monocle Bream can be recognised by its colouration. It has a black-edged white bar curving up from the mouth to the middle of the dorsal fin. There are two white lines above and behind the eyes. The spinous dorsal fin is yellow and there is a white region on the back below the soft dorsal fin.

This species grows to 23 cm in length.

It occurs in tropical marine waters of the Western Pacific.

In Australia it is known from the central coast of Western Australia, around the tropical north of the country, and south to the central coast of New South Wales.
