snails and sea-slugs: molluscs

Hopkinsia

Hopkinsia sp. Known only from the southern Great Barrier Reef and northern New South Wales, it is one of many Australian nudibranchs which have not yet been named. It has a very specific diet, feeding only on the bryozoan on which it is photographed. A similar species is found in Japan and southern China and another from the Californian coast of north America. (18mm long).
