snails and sea-slugs: molluscs

Miamira magnifica

Miamira magnifica. The dorid nudibranchs are characterised by a pair of large head tentacles (rhinophores) and a cluster of feathery gills at the posterior end of the body. The rhinophores are special sensory organs which `smell' chemicals in the water and enable the nudibranchs to find their food. This tropical Indo West-Pacific species extends down into New South Wales waters (60mm).
