Study of the biology and ecology of marine invertebrates

Research

The Australian Museum undertakes research into the biology and ecology of marine invertebrates. in is undertaken order to enhance management estuarine environments

Research has targeted habitats particularly susceptible to human impact. These habitats include the sediments of estuaries and sandy beaches in the Sydney area. Programs deal with the ecology and biology of benthic invertebrate populations, the structure and composition of communities and the rates of colonisation of contaminated sediments.

Projects

  • Commenting on various environmental issues and providing advice to government and the public
  • Contributing to both public (educational) programs and commercial programs
  • Supervising post-graduate research
  • Conducting field research.
