Slabs 24 and 45 contain six of the eight types of fish known from Canowindra. They include the finest specimen of Gooloogongia loomesi Johanson and Ahlberg (1998), one of only two with the head preserved. One head is on Slab 45 with most of the body on Slab 24. Also on Slab 45 is one of only two known specimens of a lungfish from Canowindra, named Soederberghia simpsoni in honour of local apiarist Bill Simpson who reported the original find to the Australian Museum in 1956.
