Gilt edged pigeons?

Les pigeons by Conrad Temminck [1778-1858] and illustrated by Madame Knip [1781-1851], and published in Paris in 1811, is one of the world's most magnificently illustrated bird books - an example of the French mastery of illustration of the period. The plates have a richness of texture nearer to that of feathers than has been achieved elsewhere. Madame Knip was a renowned bird artist, commissioned by the Sèvres porcelaine factory to prepare figures of birds and the illustrator of several other ornithological works. This is a folio volume in original full calf, with gilded and blind tooling all over, and with gilt edges.
