Where are we now?

• Practical completion of the Collections & Research building was awarded mid September 2008.
• Staff have moved into the building and all collections are due to be relocated at the end of March 2009.
• Much needed refurbishment of the vacated spaces within the older wings of the Museum has commenced.
• Two new permanent exhibitions 'Dinosaurs' and 'Surviving Australia' opened to the public in 2008.
• 'Botox' staff teams are working on ideas to refresh general public exhibition spaces.

More than Dinosaurs and Tracks Through Time exhibitions closed for gallery refurbishment. A human evolution program is available for schools through our Education Services Unit - (+612) 9320 6163.

Biodiversity and Kids' Island* close for gallery refurbishment.
* A dedicated under 5s activity space Kidspace is open throughout the refurbishment and beyond.

Mid 2007

Installation begins on Dinosaurs and Surviving Australia exhibitions.

Dinosaurs exhibition opened 15 March 2008

Surviving Australia exhibition opens 28 June 2008
